What do you do with a huge, open, grassy space? You could set up a race track, for running horses. Or you could use it as an air field.

In Michael Coveney‘s biography of theatre polar explorer Ken Campbell, Ken mentions that his father, who’d worked sending telegraphs, could type faster than anyone else he’d ever encountered, so fast that there wasn’t the noise of individual keys clacking, just a blur of sound.
